Ambalakadav Kudumbam has five branches namely, 

Ambalakadav,Vadakke-kochillam,Kayyalath,Thekke-kochillam and Poovakulam  .

Members of the Ambalakadav Kudumbam were originated from the Brahmin family,  Pakalomattom, into christianity by the Apostle St. Thomas.

Ambalakadav Kudumbam has a generation of 21 hundred years of tradition and history as christians.

The Kudumbam migrated from Kuravilangad and landed near  Ambalam(temple) Kadav, thus Ambalakadav,  at Kurichy.
